Use this RS232 breakout when a prototype needs a DE9 serial connection and a logic-level interface on the same board. Its ST3222 transceiver supports work with legacy serial equipment while the through-hole header makes the microcontroller side accessible. In a robotics lab, it can help turn a borrowed instrument into a source of measurements for a project. Establish the wiring and command protocol first; a matching connector shape alone does not establish compatibility.
Before you buy
Confirm DE9 pin assignments, transmit/receive direction, grounding and logic requirements against both schematics. This is not an RS-485 or Ethernet board.
