Measure motion or orientation in a wearable robot interface with the LilyPad ADXL335 accelerometer. Its three analog outputs make it a useful contrast to digital I2C motion sensors: learners can sample each axis, observe the effect of orientation and calibrate a simple gesture input. The sewable format also supports physical-computing projects that combine textiles with a separate controller. Acceleration readings need interpretation; they are not a direct absolute-position measurement.
Before you buy
Use a compatible supply and analog-input range. Calibrate the assembled project before interpreting tilt, and account for motion as well as gravity.
